The Wazir Khan mosque was built in the period 1634-1641 by a physician called Hakim Ala al-Din Ansari of Chiniot, who was widely known as Wazir Khan. He became governor of the Punjab during Shah Jahan’s reign (1628-1658). The mosque is famed for its intricate tile work on the exterior and the ornate and highly detailed frescoes in the interior.
