May one see it?
London, United Kingdom
It belongs to the collection, but is not on display at present.
When this bust was purchased from the Gigli-Campana collection, the bust was regarded as a young member of the Capponi family, because it had been one of a number of ancestor busts decorating the library of the Capponi house near San Frediano. It has been suggested that the trimming of the beard and moustache point to a date of around 1530. The sitter has not been identified.
