May one see it?
London, United Kingdom
It belongs to the collection, but is not on display at present.
This ivory bust representing a young man in scaled armour was probably made in Germany, probably in 1850, although it is signed and dated C.V. 1680. There is a monogram on the underside of the truncation. The style of the bust suggests it is in fact a work of the mid-nineteenth century. The facial expression of the youth recalls Michelangelo's early sixteenth-century marble figure of Daniel.
