May one see it?
London, United Kingdom
It belongs to the collection, but is not on display at present.
This bust depicts Nicolas Boileau (1636-1711), a French poet and literary critic. This bust is made of plaster and painted in black. Though it was probably made as a decorative bust for the home, Wedgwood often used these as models to make moulds to create his own busts in ceramic, usually black basalt.
