About the work

Pen and ink caricature of the actor/manager Sir Henry Irving (1838-1905) as he appeared in a production of The Corsican Brothers by Dion Boucicault, first performed at the Lyceum Theatre in September 1880. Drawn by the writer and actor Walter Weedon Grossmith (1854-1919).
