This tiny seated figure of Gautama Buddha in cast and chased silver allegedly came from Anuradhapura, one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka. The capital was founded in the 4th century BC but was abandoned by AD 1017. The well-preserved ruins of Anuradhapura is now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
