The Bastion in Menton: a museum for his work
The mayor of Menton, Francis Palmero, invited him to transform the Bastion, an abandoned seventeenth-century fort on the town’s harbour wall, into a museum for his work; Cocteau designed pebble mosaics for the building and selected works for display. The museum opened in 1966, three years after his death.
