About the sculpture

This alabaster statuette of a male torso on a black marble base was given by F.T Palgrave an important commentator on contemporary sculpture around 1860. He wrote the Introduction to Sculpture in the London 1862 International Exhibition and the Handbook to the Fine Art Collections.
