May one see it?
London, United Kingdom
It belongs to the collection, but is not on display at present.
The style of the painting is typical of western Rajasthan in the early18th century, with angular lines and earthy green and brown colouring. The man being carried in the palanquin may be Raja Jaswant Singh of Jaisalmer (ruled 1702-7) - the name appears on the back of the painting (as 'sri jasot singhji'), and he bears some resemblance to a later portrait of the same ruler.
