May one see it?
London, United Kingdom
It belongs to the collection, but is not on display at present.
The Virgin is represented in half-length turned slightly to the right, holding the head and upper part of the body against her left arm. The flesh parts are painted naturalistically, and the veil across the Virgin's throat retains traces of white paint. Elsewhere the paint surface is reduced to the red ground with extensive remains of scratched surface decoration on the Virgin's veil and cloak and a silver textile pattern. The style of the relief suggests that this work is perhaps Piedmontese.
