On public display.
This is an ivory statuette made in ca. 1580-1600, probably in Italy, perhaps Venice. It represents St. Paul wearing a long robe and mantle, leaning on a tall sword and holding a closed book in the left hand. He wears a beard, and his head is tonsured. This and its accompanying piece representing St. Peter (V&A Mus. no. 215-1867) could have originally formed part of a monstrance or other liturgical item, analogous to an Augsburg work in Zagreb Cathedral.
