May one see it?
London, United Kingdom
It belongs to the collection, but is not on display at present.
The Saints stands, looking downwards to the right, wearing a robe over which is an ample mantle draped over her left shoulder and gathered up in her right hand and held on her hip. Her right arm emerges from the mantle in front and appears to have held an object, possibly a palm, which is now missing.
This statues is a reduced variant of the marble statues of St. Susanna carved by Duquesnoy for the church of Santa Maria di Loreto, Rome in 1627-33. Plaster casts were made of the figure soon after its completion and in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries it was amongst the most popular sculptures in Rome.
