Tabloul reprezintă două personaje ușor recognoscibile, Venus și Amor, într-un peisaj idilic, evocator. În fundal se profilează un lanț muntos, o cetate (fără acuratețe topografică, redată convențional), căi de acces (drumuri, un pod), precum și mai multe personaje („localnici” în activități „cotidiene”).
