Beginning of the "Water Lilies"
Monet began painting the water lilies of his garden — his last and most ambitious series, which occupied him for the next twenty years. The first group of paintings, devoted to the Japanese bridge, was exhibited in 1900; in all he created more than 250 "Water Lilies" canvases.

London seasons of fog
Monet stayed three times at the Savoy Hotel overlooking the Thames (September 1899, early 1900 and 1901), painting series of Waterloo Bridge, Charing Cross Bridge and the Houses of Parliament — about a hundred canvases in all. The "Views of the Thames" series was exhibited in May–June 1904.
