About the sculpture

The central group is a retardatory work of low quality, in which the type of the Virgin and the pose of the Child suggest some knowledge of the style of Sansovino, and the relief for that reason cannot have been produced earlier than 1530 and may even date from the end of the second quarter of the 16th century. The two reliefs of the saints are crudely carved and are perhaps somewhat earlier in date.
