According to Antwerp records, in 1635 David Teniers was issued a passport for a visit to Paris.

He signed a contract in Dover with the Antwerp picture dealer Chrysostomos van Immerseel, who was then living in England; the artist probably traveled to England.

He married Anna Brueghel, daughter of Jan Brueghel the Elder; Rubens, the bride's guardian, was a witness at the wedding. The marriage strengthened Teniers's close ties with Rubens.
